Hi Jill,
Thanks for asking such a great question about dining at Walt Disney World (one of my favorite subjects!). I'm so happy to hear that you've been expanding your culinary horizons! My family happens to love Thai cuisine and we frequently head over to our favorite local Thai restaurant for dinner. Some of my favorite dishes are green curry, spicy Kee Mao broad rice noodles, Pra Raam peanut curry and of course the classic Pad Thai. OK, I'm getting hungry just thinking about all these mouth-watering entrees!
While there are Asian cuisines (Japanese and Chinese) represented in the World Showcase at Epcot and in other locations throughout Walt Disney World Resort, unfortunately there is no dedicated Thai restaurant per se. (Well, at least not yet!) However, you can find pan-Asian influences in the menu offerings at a number of dining locations. For example, at the Yak & Yeti Restaurant in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, you'll find Thai Chili Chicken Wings and Malaysian Seafood Curry. And at 'Ohana (at Disney's Polynesian Resort) you can experience the delectable cuisine of - you guessed it -Polynesia.
One of my family's favorite times to visit Walt Disney World is during the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, which is a special event held annually from late September to mid-November. The Festival is a food and wine lover's dream with special kiosks (called "marketplaces") set up around the World Showcase serving the regional cuisine of six (count 'em, six!) continents. In 2012 some of the more exotic offerings were from Hawaii, South Korea, Singapore and South Africa.
Here's to more culinary adventures at Walt Disney World!
