We have free reg dining plan in Dec, staying four nights. I have (at this moment) 7 sit down reservations (5 plus one is Candle Proc, so 2 there. 3 others are character). Is it more cost effective to pay out of pocket for 3 or upgrade to deluxe dining?

    Hi Frances,

Disney in December is magical! I really love Epcot this time of the year as the countries celebrate the holidays the best!

As I have noted in previous posts, the Disney Dining Plan is great if you have children under 9 or like to dine at signature restaurants. Signature restaurants are more expensive so getting those dinners at a "priced fixed" option is great.

In order to know to bump up to the Deluxe Dining plan, look at the restaurants you are dining at and compare the price of the meals on and off the plan. Take the price of the three least expensive meals and compare that price against upgrading to the Deluxe Dining plan.

Remember to compare apples to apples, you need to order the same meal on and off the plan. If you normally would not eat all the food offered on the plan or you want to skip the plan extras, you might do better out of pocket.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
    Beth
