David,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
Disney does not send out park maps or other planning information like DVDs any longer, but what they do offer is a wide array of online tools to help with the planning process. Of course I am partial to planDisney!
That may not be the answer you were hoping for, but these tools can help. For a real starting point, visit the
Vacation Planning page. No videos there, but it captures the core planning topics that most of us find challenging. Of course as you navigate the Walt Disney World site you will see so many videos as well, so you will want to start there first.
Another place to visit is the
Disney Parks Blog. While they don't have a set library of videos to watch, it is a great place to find out the newest announcements about what is going on at Walt Disney World, and they have videos that they post there regularly to show you the magic.
BONUS TIP #1
I am a regular visitor to the Disney Parks YouTube page as well. They post videos there that can be both informative, and inspirational, giving you ideas of what you want to do in the magic. A personal favorite is the new
planDisney Podcast, presented by State Farm, that just started. You can catch those on most major podcast sites, but the video edition is on that YouTube page as well.
BONUS TIP #2
Another great place to go is Disney+. I know that not everyone has a Disney+ account, but if you do have one there are a variety of Walt Disney World preview pieces available. They recently grouped them into a park collection, titled
Disney Parks Collection. You can find it by searching under the
"All Collections" button on the main page. I have to admit that one of my favorites is the
Disney Parks Sunrise series. It may not be what would get your son excited, but it is one-hour long video reels of the parks, showing them "waking up" in the early morning hours.
So no videos in the mail, but I am glad to help you with any follow up questions. If you
write me back with specifics of what you want to see videos covering, I might be able to give you more specific recommendations.
Have a Magical Vacation!Doug
