When free dining is offered is it the Quick Service Plan or Disney Dining Plan? Can you still pay the difference between plans when free dining is being offered to upgrade?

Hi, Jennifer!  If a Guest is receiving a free Dining Plan, then the plan received is based on the category of Resort in which he or she is staying. Those staying in Value Resorts will receive the Quick-Service Dining Plan; those in Moderate, Deluxe, and Villa Resorts will receive the standard Disney Dining Plan. Yes, Guests are still allowed to pay the difference if they want to upgrade from their free Dining plan to a higher level of the Disney Dining Plan. My sister's family just did this in October. Things can always change in 2014, but this was true last year, and no news about changes has been issued yet. Happy planning and have a Magical vacation!
