Hello again, Megan! You have thought of a practically perfect way to kick off your holiday visit. I always recommend to my friends visiting during December that they take a break from the parks at some point to see the amazing decorations in the resorts. They are all merrily dressed, but to me, there are a few that stand out from the others.
At Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, you will find a life-size gingerbread house near the grand holiday tree in the lobby, where you can purchase gingerbread shingles or a gingerbread house. I think Disney's Wilderness Lodge sets the tone for the spirit of the season more than any others. Grab a seat near one of the fireplaces and admire all the beauty of this resort. I suggest you plan a bite to eat as you stop in at
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. There are great table service locations and several quick service locations (try Capt. Cook's!), but be sure to save room for a Disney must-do at the Pineapple Lanai, the Dole Whip!
If you have time, I highly recommend you also visit Disney's Animal Kingdom Resort and the Epcot/BoardWalk area resorts. During a 2014 visit, I was absolutely amazed to awaken one morning and find that the tree had been constructed overnight! If you make it to the BoardWalk area, the whimsical gingerbread carousel at Disney's Beach Club Resort is a fun addition to the resort's holiday celebration.
Megan, to cap off your holiday exploration, check out the new
Disney Springs Christmas Tree Trail! I know my girls are counting down the days until we get to admire all of the trees planned at this extravaganza! I hope this information helps you plan a holly jolly arrival day! Let us know if you have any other questions.
