This will be my fourth time visiting WDW and i have stayed at WL all three times. I have a 13 yr old daughter and an 11 yr old autistic son. What hotel would you reccomend that is quieter than others, has a fun pool, and is rather close to the parks?

I love the Wilderness Lodge, but it seems like you're looking for a change of pace. When you said, "quiet, fun pool, close to the parks," the Yacht and Beach Clubs are what immediately came to mind. The pool that these resorts share, Stormalong Bay, is by far the most spectacular at WDW. The entire pool is three acres big and includes several different swimming areas, a giant slide, and even a sandy-bottomed area for castle building.

Despite the fun at the pool, I find the interior of both these resorts to be very calm and soothing, the Yacht Club, is perhaps a bit quieter than the Beach Club, but they are both very mellow inside. The only possible noise issue for an autistic child is that you can, at 9:00 every night, hear a bit of the fireworks noise from the Epcot Illuminations show for about 10 minutes. Inside the hotel, it is very muffled and not at all bothersome to me. I only mention it in case your son has auditory stimulation issues.

As far as park accessibility goes, these resorts are within walking distance of both Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios (or you could take a brief boat ride if you we're in a walking mood). Now that my kids are older (8 and 11) we're finding that Epcot is our favorite park. So we LOVE the easy access from the Beach Club (where we've stayed MANY times) to Epcot. We often have dinner in a World Showcase restaurant and after just a brief stroll, we're back in our room for bedtime. There is also convenient bus transportation to the Magic Kingdom and the Animal Kingdom.
