Hello, Catherine!
At the last two
D23 Expos, lots of announcements were made about the exciting transformation of
Epcot (I'm so happy to hEAR that everyone's favorite British nanny will finally take up residence in the United Kingdom Pavillion)! Over the next several yEARs, we will see lots of changes, starting in 2020 with some new movies in the World Showcase Pavillions, Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, and HarmonioUS, a new nighttime spectacular.
However, sometimes change means saying goodbye to old favorites. This summer, I made a special visit to see the Fountain of Nations one last time, because I've always loved what it symbolizes. In 1982, the International Ceremony of the Waters and dedication of the Fountain of Nations took place, during which 25 bodies of water representing 29 nations were poured into the fountain. I spoke with two Cast Members who couldn't verify the exact closing time for the fountain, but my educated guess would be that it will cease operation at Park closing on September 7. Also, closing is Club Cool, which is reportedly coming back in a new location sometime in the future; Guests will be pining for their Beverly soda in the meantime! This area is being cleared for the
new Epcot Entrance & Play Pavilion, and construction is already underway.
I know that this will make your trip to Epcot bittersweet, Catherine, but you have so much to look forward to, especially with the
Epcot International Food & Wine Festival celebrating its 25th year! I hope your holiday is extra special. Please write back if there's anything else we can help you with!
