For the past couple of summers, both
Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon have been open at the same time; however, in the fall, winter, and spring months, the water parks often operate on an alternating basis.
Beginning on September 9, 2026,
Typhoon Lagoon will temporarily close, and at this time, we don’t have word on when it will reopen. To give us an idea of what might happen, we can look back at last year’s schedule.
In 2025, the opposite happened! After
Cool KIDS’ SUMMER ended,
Blizzard Beach closed temporarily, and Typhoon Lagoon remained open. At that time, Typhoon Lagoon was open until February 15, 2026. Then, the water parks switched, and Typhoon Lagoon closed until this year’s Cool KIDS’ SUMMER, when they were both operating at the same time.
So, my guess is that Blizzard Beach will remain open for the next handful of months before they alternate. But again…that’s just a guess. I’d keep an eye on the
Hours & Events Calendar and
Disney Parks Blog for any announcements over the winter.
It’s good to note that the free water park tickets on arrival day
perk for Disney World resort guests will return in the summer of 2027, so that could mean that both water parks will be operating simultaneously again at that point.
