Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, James!
I am heading to Florida this week as well and was a little disappointed to see rain in the forecast. However, some of our best family memories are of our rainy-day visits to Disney Parks!
Umbrellas are not among the
prohibited items in Walt Disney World theme parks. There may be certain areas where umbrellas are not allowed to be open so follow the direction of any Cast Members, and please use caution so that your umbrella does not become a poking hazard for other Guests.
For rainy days, I highly recommend bringing ponchos or other rain gear in addition to umbrellas. I recall my fellow panelist Amy recommending to wear a ball cap with a brim under the hood of your poncho or jacket to keep the rain off your face. You'll also find ponchos, rain jackets and other rain gear for sale in many
merchandise locations. If you don't see them out, ask. Often rain gear is not on display but is available.
Also, consider your footwear choice for rain. Sneakers will quickly become soggy, and flip-flops, while waterproof, can be slippery to walk in. I recommend a waterproof hiking sandal, similar to those offered by Keen, Merrill, Teva, and other brands.
Generally speaking, theme park attendance is often lighter on rainy days, so don that rain gear and consider it an adventure!
James, I am wishing you and your family a wonderful visit. Please let us know if you have any additional questions as you
plan your Walt Disney World Resort vacation.
