How do some folks get picked for free upgrades?

    Hi Amy,

Free upgrades on your resort room are an amazingl way to start your Disney vacation. These upgrades can include larger rooms or preferred views and perhaps the "gold star" upgrade to the concierge level. In all honesty, the best way to receive an upgrade is a lot of faith, hope and pixie dust.

To my knowledge there is no formula for how guests receive these upgrades. They could go to guests who visit Disney every month, and those who visit once in their life. They could go to a family on a budget plan, or a solo guest. You are welcome to ask at check-in but keep your expectations to a minimum. I often ask when I check in for the best available room they can give me and then hope for the best.

In all my numerous visits, we have only received this special treat a few times. It is best to not expect an upgrade and therefore the surprise is even greater if it does happen.

Good luck and remember no matter where your room is, have a magical time!
