Welcome to planDisney, Taryn!
I’m so glad you stopped by with your question. Like you, I look forward to the
Lunar New Year Celebration at Disney California Adventure every year. From the vibrant decorations and joyful entertainment to the incredible food and special character appearances, it’s truly one of the most festive times at the Disneyland Resort.
While official dates for the upcoming Lunar New Year Celebration haven’t been announced yet, the event has traditionally taken place in late winter, typically running from mid-January through early February. Since the timing can vary slightly each year, I recommend keeping an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog as it’s the best source for the latest updates on seasonal offerings and special event announcements.
Now, onto your second question. Taryn, I’ve got great news! The
70th Anniversary Celebration is expected to continue through summer 2026, which means it will still be happening during the time Lunar New Year events typically take place. There may be some minor adjustments to daily entertainment schedules to make room for seasonal offerings, but the celebration itself will not be paused.
You can look forward to many ongoing anniversary highlights, including Paint the Night and A Tapestry of Happiness in Disneyland, as well as World of Color Happiness! and the special 70th overlays on Toy Story Midway Mania in Disney California Adventure. You’ll also find interactive MagicBand+ experiences, the Key to Disneyland lock stations, and festive photo ops throughout the resort, including in the Esplanade.
If seeing Wondrous Journeys is on your wishlist, I recommend planning your visit before August 22, as that’s when it’s currently scheduled to end.
Taryn, I hope this helps as you begin planning your next magical adventure. Whether you're celebrating Lunar New Year or enjoying the 70th Anniversary festivities, you're in for an unforgettable time!
