Hi, we will be flying in to Orlando at 2pm on July 4th. My question is if we have dinner reservations for inside Magic Kingdom and then MK sells out before we arrive will we still be permitted in or will we be charged for the dinner reservation?

Hi, Larry!  This is a bit of a complicated answer, but I'll give it my best shot!

If you arrive at the Magic Kingdom and the park is already full to capacity, you will not be able to gain entrance, even if you have a dining reservation.  You may be able to gain entrance at some point, if the crowds thin out over the course of the late afternoon or early evening, but the later it gets in the day, especially on July fourth, the less likely that is to happen.

Now, whether or not you will be charged for your dinner depends on where you have booked your meal.  Some restaurants, like Cinderella's Royal Table, do ask for a credit card guarantee when you book your reservation. Your card will be charged in full, and you need to cancel at least 48 hours in advance for a full refund.  At the moment, this is the only Magic Kingdom restaurant that requires a credit card when you book.

While it is preferable that you call to cancel your dining reservation, there is no penalty for cancelling at the last minute or simply not showing up at the other restaurants at the Magic Kingdom.  If you arrive and find the park is full to capacity, you would not be penalized for not showing up for your reservation.

I hope that helps you with your planning, and I hope your vacation is magical!
