We're flying into MCO then staying at a DVC resort before going on a Disney cruise. We will return to the DVC resort after the cruise. What's the best way to get from the resort to the cruise port (Canaveral) and back to the resort afterwards?

Hey there, Michael! It's so exciting to be headed out on a Disney Cruise Line vacation! We are platinum Castaway Cay members, and are looking forward to sailing again this summer. We absolutely love Disney cruises.

You can take a look at several options that may work for your family. The one I recommend most highly is to use the Disney Cruise Line ground transfers. You can book them up to 3 days prior to your trip by calling 800-951-3532. This will get you from the Walt Disney World resort area to Port Canaveral in a comfortable, air conditioned motorcoach. There is a fee of $70 per person, round trip for this shuttle, but it will take you right to the Port, and your luggage will be collected for you, so you head right into the cruise terminal.

Private transportation can be arranged through a number of local services. My family has used Mears in the past and had good experiences each time. You arrange the time with them based on when you want to get to the port. This may be more cost effective if you have a larger party going.

Some people also rent a car to take to the port. You can look into one way rentals, but there is plenty of parking at the port, currently at a cost of $15 per night. On the plus side, you'll have plenty of space in the trunk for your Pirate Night deck party regalia.

Wishing you a swashbuckling good time on your Disney Cruise Line vacation!
