Hello! We fly into Orlando on 9/1 around 11AM, are staying at CBR, and have ADR for Mickey's Backyard BBQ for 6:30PM. What to do in between if room is not ready? MK or Downtown? Something else? It's me, DH, and 4 yr-old DS. Thanks!

Hey Michelle!  Wow, my answer would really depend on what time you got to the resort, checked in and were ready to go hit the town.  If you are ready to go by let's say 1:30 or 2 then a little time at MK is a great way to get your WDW vacation started.  By being at the MK, you are also closer to FW for the Backyard BBQ.  If you get in much later, the DD might be a great alternative, but I think your 4 year old would probably love getting a little taste of the magic at MK before he he heads off to dinner.
I truly hope this helps and if we can answer anymore of your questions, please don't hesitate to come back to the Mom's Panel.  Have a magical WDW vacation.
