Hi there, Rosalba. Welcome to
planDisney, and thanks for racing over with your question. As an avid
runDisney participant, I’m so excited that you’ll be running in the
Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend. I’ve never had the opportunity to run that weekend, but I have heard from all my royal friends that Princess Weekend is a lot of fun.
There is a wide array of resort options to meet all your needs. During race weekends, I usually spend very little time at the resort, as I’m usually either running a race, cheering for friends who are running, visiting the parks, or
carb-loading for the next race. For this reason, I usually pick a value or moderate resort. Some good options are
Pop Century and
Art of Animation for value resorts, and
Caribbean Beach Resort for a moderate resort. All three of these are not far from
EPCOT, so the bus ride there in the morning should be a bit easier to navigate. I also like these resorts because they are on the
Skyliner, which doesn’t operate in the morning for races, but makes getting to
Disney Hollywood Studios and EPCOT much easier after the race.
Transportation to the start line will be posted in the lobby area of whichever resort you choose. These are usually contracted motor coaches that pick up and drop off in both directions. In the many runDisney races I’ve run, I’ve never had a bad experience with the transportation provided by runDisney.
Visit the
Explore Resort Hotels page on the
Walt Disney World Website to start making your reservation. Enter your dates, how many people will be staying in the room, and then click “Edit Filters.” This will give you a wide range of options to help find the resort that is perfect for you. Be sure to purchase your park tickets when you complete your hotel reservation to receive some magical perks. I also recommend setting aside time the day before your race to visit the Race Expo at
ESPN Wide World of Sports to pick up your bib, race shirt, and visit the health expo. The runDisney merch will be on sale there, too!
Rosalba, I hope these recommendations point you in the right direction to plan your trip. If you have more questions, don’t hesitate to come back to
planDisney for more tips and tricks. I hope you make many magical memories along the race route.
I hope you have a magical day.
