Dan from Kent Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

We are going to Florida in October 2024 and was wondering if you know if either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon will be closed for refurbishment during this month. Thank you. All the best, Dan.

Hey, howdy, hey, Dan, and welcome to planDisney! I'm so glad to chat with you about your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort later this year! It looks like you'll be visiting during the spooky season, which is when some unique fall offerings and events materialize, and as we are almost Halfway to Halloween, I'd keep your eyes peeled on the Disney Parks Blog for updates about some of them! But let's dive into your question about visiting the water parks first!

Dan, currently the two Disney Water Parks operate on a rotating schedule, and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon welcomed guests back on March 17. While a closing date has not been officially released, it has traditionally remained open through mid-November, at which point Disney's Blizzard Beach resumed operations and Typhoon Lagoon would close for refurbishments. So while I don't have Madame Leota's crystal ball to summon an exact answer, I'd venture that Typhoon Lagoon would still be operating during your October visit. Be sure to take a ride on the aqua coaster, the Crush 'n' Gusher and catch some waves in the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool - the biggest wave pool in North America - while you're there! After those thrills, you can make your way over to Castaway Creek and relax in an inner tube as you wind through the lazy river that circles the park! This is usually where I end up on my water park visits!

As you continue your countdown, be on the lookout for announcements about the return of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, which celebrates the Halloween season at Magic Kingdom Park on select nights throughout the fall. My family has attended this event a few times and we always enjoy the special ride overlays (Space Mountain in absolute darkness is another level!), specialty treats, and the can't-miss Mickey's Boo-to-You Halloween parade down Main Street, U.S.A. There are plenty of treats (it's not a trick!) waiting for you if you attend!

Dan, I hope this is helpful and I hope you find lots of ways to delight in the spirit of the spooky season on your upcoming visit! If you have any other vacation planning questions, or need any other tricks or treats to help you plan, come on back and ask us again! There's always room for one more question here at planDisney!

    See you real soon,
    Alison
