Our flight to Disney World was canceled and we have to arrive a day late now. Unfortunately this means we miss out on the park we had scheduled. I tried to rebook the park but it is full all week. Is there a way to still get into the park?

    Welcome to planDisney, James!

Gawrsh, I’m sorry your flight was canceled and you had to push your Walt Disney World Resort trip back a day. That’s definitely not a magical start to your dream vacation. Let’s see if we can turn that frown upside down and get your trip back on track.

Unfortunately, if the Disney Park Passes are sold out for that specific theme park for the week of your trip, you won’t be able to make a Theme Park Reservation there. While it may be unavailable now, keep checking the Disney Park Pass availability calendar to see if Theme Park Reservations for that park open back up during your stay. It’s a long shot, but it’s definitely worth checking.

If, however, Theme Park Reservations do not open back up and availability continues to be sold out for that theme park, you still have the option of upgrading your theme park tickets to include the Park Hopper Option once you arrive. The Park Hopper Option allows you to visit more than one theme park per day by “park hopping” to another theme park after 2:00 p.m. (subject to availability and park capacity limitations). This means you could start off your day in the park your Theme Park Reservation is for in the morning, then head over to the park without Disney Park Pass availability in the afternoon and stay until it closes.

You can add the Park Hopper Option onto your tickets at any ticket window at the theme parks. If you have a multi-day ticket, you will be charged the cost of the Park Hopper Option for the full length of your ticket, so I recommend doing this on the first day of your trip to take full advantage of park hopping. I know it’s not ideal to think you might have to spend more money, but it’s your best bet if the unavailable theme park is on your must-do list.

James, I am crossing my fingers that availability magically opens up for you. If it doesn’t, try to enjoy your trip in spite of its not-so-magical start. You will still be in The Most Magical Place on Earth during the 50th Anniversary Celebration, and that’s definitely something to celebrate!

    Good luck and take care,

    Alyssa
