    We are going on our fist Disney Cruise 9/23/2012, on the Disney Wonder. My son is 14 years old and has Asperger's Syndrome, special needs. We were wondering if anyone has a special needs kids and would know what we should be ready for?

    Your wondrous voyage is just a few weeks away, and I know you are looking forward to a memorable Pixar themed cruise! I believe Disney Cruise Line does an incredible job of assuring Guests of all ages, abilities and backgrounds experience a vacation filled with pixie dust.   If you haven't already, please give Disney Cruise Line a call at (800) 951-3532 so your son's condition is noted on your cruise reservation.  There is also a Special Services Form that will need to be filled out before you board.  I have worked with special needs children and observed them on my previous cruises and from what I have seen; Disney Cruise Line does their best to accommodate every Guest onboard.  If your son wants to participate in Edge, I would visit the club on the first afternoon and speak with the youth counselors onboard about his particular situation. They can give you detailed information on the activities that take place and which ones might best fit your son.  Also, there are Open House times scheduled throughout the voyage, that you can accompany as well.  I would also recommend speaking with the amazing Cruise Staff about the family events they host each sailing.  They can also guide you to which activities might be more appealing to your son.
