To do a fishing guide excursion do you have to be a resort member and also if my little one doesn't want to do it will we be charged if it's just my husband doing the fishing?

    Hi Emily,

Welcome, once again, to planDisney! It sounds like you are planning a “fin-tastic” Walt Disney World Resort vacation. You have come to the right place for some “o-fish-ial” advice! Ok, I’m done with the puns, at least for now, so let’s get on with your question.

Being a Guest of a Disney Resorts Collection hotel is not a requirement to enjoy a Guided Fishing Excursion. Any Walt Disney World Resort Guest may make an advanced reservation for one of these Enchanting Extras Collection activities up to 60 days in advance by calling (407) 939-FISH or (407) 939-3474. Advanced reservations are highly recommended, so cast your line early!

Emily, Guided Fishing Excursions are priced per boat, not per person. So, if you select
a Sun Tracker pontoon boat, the cost includes up to 5 Guests, or a tournament-style NITRO® bass fishing boat includes up to 3 Guests. If your husband decides he would like to set his charts on a solo fishing adventure, there are reduced afternoon rates for solo anglers.

There are a few things to keep in mind, especially with your little one, while you enjoy this experience. Assorted Coca-Cola® beverages are included, but Guests are welcome to bring their own beverages (Guests 21 years and older may bring alcoholic beverages) and food items. Don’t forget your sunscreen, a hat, and even a jacket if the weather forecast calls for cooler weather. And finally, remember that all fishing at Walt Disney World Resort is “catch and release,” because, like Bruce likes to say, “fish are friends, not food” around here.

And one final tip, your little one might enjoy this experience most if you select one of the Magic Kingdom Seven Seas Lagoon area resort marinas as your embarkation point. These resorts include Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. Departing from these resorts gives you a chance to spot the Walt Disney World Monorail and the Magic Kingdom Ferry while you are out on the water.

Emily, I hope this information is helpful to you! Please feel free to write back to me if you need any clarification about this adventure. We appreciate that you trust us here at planDisney with your vacation planning questions and would love to see you again real soon if you have other questions or would like advice on how to make the most of your magical vacation.

    Just keep swimming,
    Shannon
