Hello! First WDW trip, staying offsite, and renting a car. According to the 2013 Unofficial WDW Guidebook the commute from my hotel to WDW is 7 minutes, when heading to the park for morning rope drop how early would you recommend leaving the hotel?

    Hi Emily!

You've got a great resource picked out! The Unofficial Guide is one of my (and my fellow Disney Moms') favorite go-to guide books!

Even though your actual driving time is short, you do need to plan extra time for parking, and then using boat, monorail or tram transportation to the park entrance. I would recommend leaving your hotel about an hour to an hour and half before Rope Drop each morning to ensure you get there in time to get a good view of the show. That will leave you plenty of time, and you won't be worried about missing it!

Hope you have a wonderful trip!
