We are going on our first WDW trip in July 2012. it will be myself, my husband, 8 y.o. son and 2 y.o. daughter. we will be staying at AKL with a savanna view. Was this a good choice especially with the kids? Are the rooms spacious? Any tips about resort?

    Hi Brandy!

I have a friend who stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge just last month with her kids that are around the same ages as yours, and her entire family loved it!

The savannah view is amazing, especially if you are an animal lover. Everyone who stays there says that they were not prepared for how incredibly wonderful it is to look out their window and see a giraffe, zebra or gazelle wandering around.

I have a few tips for staying at Animal Kingdom:

    • Take advantage of the Wanyama Safari, which is only offered to Animal Kingdom resort guests. You can see the animals and learn about the natural history and management of the animals.
    • Make a reservation for Jiko- The Cooking Place. The food here is out of this world!
    • Bring a pair of binoculars so you can get a great view of the animals from your room.
    • Take a day just to stay at the resort and enjoy the pool, sit by the fire pit and walk around the observation area to enjoy the animals.
The rooms are spacious, at 344 square feet, which is typical of other WDW Deluxe Resorts. You will have plenty of room for your family. I hope you have a magical vacation!

    Magically,
    Stacy
