We are going for first WDW trip in Feb. & driving. We are staying at the ASMresort.Others that have driven say its easier & faster to just drive your car to the parks vs. shuttle service, is that true? Can you park at other resorts for meal reservat

Hi, Amanda!  The advantage to driving your own car to the theme parks is that you never have to wait for a bus, and you never have to worry about standing room only during peak travel times (usually when the park opens and at closing).  The advantage to using Walt Disney World transportation is you are dropped off fairly close to the gates into the theme parks, so you don't have to worry about taking the tram from the parking lot; you don't have to worry about getting into a roasting hot car at the end of the day; and you don't have to worry about sleepy drivers after a long day in the park.  It's a matter of personal preference.  When my girls were little, I always took my car, because sometimes, it just was better for me not to have to wait for a bus if a baby was cranky or a kid got sick.  But as they've gotten older (my youngest is now 5), I love taking Disney transportation.  I'm the only driver in my house now, and I love not having to find my way back to the hotel after a long day.

You can absolutely park your car at other resorts when you go for dining reservations or to do some shopping.  The security guard will just ask you for identification, and then you'll be given a pass that is usually good for three hours.  You can take your time dining, browse the shops, and soak up the atmosphere at the resort before you have to get back to your car.

    Have a wonderful vacation!
