Hi Chris!
There are an incredible variety of resorts in all sorts of
budgets at Walt Disney World but they all have one thing in common: They are all Magical! Honestly, we've been lucky enough to stay at nearly all of the resorts and we have favorites in all price categories.
I can't imagine you would be disappointed in
Port Orleans French Quarter. This moderate resort is always at the top of everyone's favorites
list! The pools here are very fun, with a serpent slide -- AND for
double your fun, you can hop over to the pool complex at Port Orleans
Riverside (its sister resort). A fun option for transportation here is the boat ferry option to Downtown Disney. It is a great change of pace from buses!
One suggestion, if you don't mind changing resorts, you could start off
your vacation at a value or moderate resort and then switch mid-trip or
for the last few nights to a Deluxe resort. This way you get the best
of both worlds - saving some money and making he kids happy! We often start off at a value resort and then change to a Deluxe. Here is an example of how we might split our stay.
All Star Sports
- Our family LOVES this value resort. Since we're not huge sports nuts,
we were a bit hesitant to try this resort but we were incredibly
surprised. The resorts decor is over the top and we loved the pools.
The baseball pool kept our son entertained for hours.
Wilderness Lodge
- By far, our favorite resort! This Pacific Northwest styled resort is
beautiful inside and out. The grand lobby is breathtaking and there are
tons of resort activities for kids. The Whispering Canyon Cafe is often
a popular restaurant with the kids.
I hope this helps! Enjoy!
