First visit in 6/19/09 to 6/26/09!! DH,DD,mom and me are EXCITED!! Just wondering how hot and humid will the weather be? Also, what is the best kind of shoe to wear in the parks to avoid sore piggies? More concerned about my DD being comfy.

    Hi Natalia,

I am so excited for you! First trips to Walt Disney World are amazing and something you and your family will never forget!

The summer months in Florida do tend to get quite hot and humid. Of course the weather can always change but the average high is low nineties and the average low is mid seventies. You will most likely encounter a number of rainstorms but luckily they often come later in the afternoon and are typically brief. Be sure to drink plenty of water, reapply sunscreen often, wear a hat and take breaks out of the sun and heat. Disney knows it gets hot, so they have planned ahead. You will find most attractions and shows are air-conditionedĀ and there are a number of places to sit in the shade and relax.

As for shoes, a trip to Disney World is the worst time to try to break in a new pair of shoes. Wear something that you have worn many times before and are comfortable in. Many guest will tell you that they opt forĀ socks and comfortable tennis shoes, however I find that our feet get way to hot that way. We like to wear flip flops or Crocs as it is cooler and it does not matter if they get wet in a sudden downpour. I always pack a couple of options for each member of my family so they can change to a different style if they would like. It might be a good idea to give your shoes a few tests runs around the neighborhood to check the comfort level before you leave.

Wishing you a magical first trip. Be sure to ask for your first time visitor button at your resort front desk or the guest services counter at the park.
