Our first trip to WDW will be 4/29/09. 3 kids, 8,5 and 4. We will be landing about 2:30 pm and staying at POR. How should we start our trip since it will be late afternoon. I was thinking of DTD and dinner. Any suggestions would be great.

Holly, you read my mind!  Your plan of heading to Downtown Disney is exactly what I do with my girls if we arrive later in the day.  There is plenty to do there for everyone, and the kids will especially enjoy the Lego playground.  It's a nice way to get a taste of the Disney magic without using up a full day park ticket for only half of the day.

There are some great restaurants at Downtown Disney you can check out.  For something quick, casual, but incredibly delicious, try a sandwich at the Earl of Sandwich.  It's very reasonably priced, and my kids can easily split a sandwich.  My family also loves Raglan Road.

Browse the incredible shops, like the World of Disney, where you can pick up a souvenir or two, and then my girls like to end the visit there with a treat at Goofy's Candy Company to eat when they get back to the resort, or an ice cream from Ghirardelli's.

We do an earlier than usual bedtime following the busy day of travel and Downtown Disney.  For me, it seems that the kids are much more pleasant the next day heading into the theme parks!
