This is our first trip to WDW. We are booked to stay Dec,21 thru Dec 27 for our family Holiday and both children's birthdays. Should we make dinner reservations? Can we get a babysitter ? Is everything open during holiday (rides)?

You should make dinner reservations IMMEDIATELY. You are traveling to WDW during the most busy time of the year. Guests began making meal reservations for this time period in June and many of the most popular dining experiences will be fully booked already. If you want to have table service meals during your trip, please get on the phone with Disney Dining as soon as possible. They can be reached at 407-WDW-DINE. When you are making reservations, be sure to mention that you are celebrating birthdays during your trip.

Child car is available at WDW. There are group child care centers at several of the hotels. These are for children ages 4-12 and are open in the late afternoon and evening. Disney also contracts with independent babysitting services that will come to your room. You can read more about child care at WDW HERE. Reservations should be made in advance for either type of child care.

In the theme parks, all but a tiny handful of attractions will be open in December. The one attraction that comes immediately to mind is the Hall of Presidents in the Magic Kingdom. This will be out of service from immediately before the election next month until July of 2009. The vast majority of the shows, rides, and other points of interest at WDW will be fully functional during the holidays.
