This is my first trip to Disney. I will have a 5 1/2 yr and my son will turn 2 while we are there. Is there such a thing as too many pre-scheduled things while we are there?

    Hi Melissa,

You've asked a question that has a thousand different answers.

Some families want vacation time to be spontaneous. For those folks, any amount of schedule is too much. Other families want to maximize their experience and plan every little detail down to the minute. Depending on who you're traveling with, when you're visiting, and your budget, a single family might have both profiles at different times.

Personally, I prefer the more scheduled side of the balance, particularly if I'm visiting during the holiday season. I like knowing that all my meals are planned, my rides are scheduled, and I know what I'm going to be doing each day. Taking uncertainty out of the equation gives me great comfort. Too me, there is almost no such thing as being too pre-scheduled.

However, after being a frequent Disney visitor for the past 15 years, one of the main lessons I've learned is be prepared, but to also be prepared for the unexpected. It could rain. Your kids could get sick. Your transportation could be delayed. Someone might develop an unexpected fear of a particular ride. Or, you could find that your child LOVES a particular ride and wants to do it a dozen times in a row. Any of these situations can cause cause havoc with your plans. Just try to roll with it. As long as you're aware that Disney vacations rarely end up exactly as planned, and that that's OK, then go ahead and schedule as much as possible.
