Hi, Leanne! Welcome to planDisney!
Your
Walt Disney World Resort vacation is less than a month away! You must be getting so excited! It's my pleasure to chat with you today and help you get ready for your trip. As you prepare for your vacation, be sure to check out the
planDisney podcast for lots of great planning tips and information. Since this is your first visit to Walt Disney World Resort, you might find season 2, episode 2 particularly helpful.
I think you've chosen a great time to visit The Most Magical Place on Earth. Although Walt Disney World Resort is always busy, the months of January and February (other than holidays and
runDisney race weekends) do tend to see a bit lighter than normal crowds. I also like visiting Walt Disney World Resort during the winter months because the weather is typically pleasant, especially for someone like me who lives further north where the winters are cold and snowy.
Florida temperatures can vary quite a bit during January. I have had some January Walt Disney World Resort visits where I wore shorts and T-shirts and some where I needed long pants and sweatshirts. I recommend doing an internet search for average January temperatures in Orlando, and then keeping an eye on the forecast as you get closer to your trip. Pack layers so that you'll be prepared for fluctuating temperatures, and don't forget your ponchos in case of rain. You may want to pack your swimsuit as well. Even if it's not super hot in January, the
Disney Resorts Collection swimming pools are heated.
Speaking of the Disney Resorts Collection, I'm so excited to hear that you'll be staying at
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort! Although I love all of the Disney resort hotels, if I had to pick a favorite, I think I would have to choose Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. The laid-back island vibe of this resort hotel is so relaxing, and you can't beat the
food and beverage options. If you need a quick snack, try the pulled pork nachos at
Capt. Cook's or stop by
Pineapple Lanai for a Dole Whip. If you're in the mood to relax with a cocktail or mocktail,
Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace is the perfect spot. All of these amazing dining options, as well as its convenient
monorail or
boat access to
Magic Kingdom Park, make Disney's Polynesian Village Resort the perfect place to call your home away from home.
Leanne, if you have any other questions as you plan for your trip, please don't hesitate to ask. My fellow panelists and I are all ears! See ya real soon!
