This is our first trip in December. I have heard guests decorate their balconies and windows. We are staying at Beach Club and wondering if this is something allowed now with all the covid rules. Any ideas for decorating and how to attach lights. Thanks

    Welcome Home, Deborah!

How exciting that your first trip home is right around the corner. And the holidays truly are the most wonderful time of the year to visit the Walt Disney World Resort. No one decorates like Disney! You’ll find elaborate trees, garlands, lights, and decor through the parks and resorts. Disney’s Beach Club is famous for its delightful gingerbread carousel, and after a year off for covid, the display is officially coming back for 2021! Hint: There are Hidden Mickey’s on the carousel, see if you can find them all!

While balcony decorations are fun, they are technically not allowed for a few reasons. Hanging things can cause damage to walls, railings, and finishings. Also, remember that in everything, Disney is about story, and since outdoor decorations not done by Disney are not part of that story it can interfere with the magic for others. So while you may see others do it, Disney Vacation Club specifically states this is not allowed in your condominium agreement.

You can, however, decorate the interior of your villa with holiday theming, as long as your decorations are safe, and do not damage walls or finishes. For this reason, I would recommend that you not attach lights to anything, as there is always a risk that any kind of adhesive would cause damage. Many Guests bring a small or miniature tree. Battery-powered candles or lights draped on the table would also be a fun way to add that special holiday glow to your room! Maybe try some window clings on the bathroom mirror, or other tabletop decor you could fit in your baggage.

I hope this helps explain the policy, Deborah, and maybe gives you some fun and approved ways of adding magic to your villa. Enjoy your first trip “Home,” may it be filled with magic, wonderment, and memories.

    Wishing you Membership Magic!
