First time visiting WDW. Can you get into casual/character dinning restaurants with out reservations?

    Hi Melissa,

Let first figure out what you're looking for. I'm not 100% sure what you mean by "casual" restaurants. If you mean quick service or counter service food, then you do not need reservations for this (and none are taken). However if you mean "casual" table service dining (as opposed to gourmet signature dining), then yes, in most cases you do need reservations. This depends a bit on which restaurant you're looking at, what time you're dining, and what time of year you're traveling, but in general you are usually MUCH better off at table service restaurants if you have a reservations. During off dining times or slow times of year it might be possible to get a walk-in spot, but at peak hours during holidays this is all but impossible.

Character dining is another situation altogether. Character dining is among the most popular experiences at Walt Disney World. Some character restaurants such as Chef Mickey's and the princess meals are fully booked many months in advance. If you'd like to dine there, I STRONGLY suggest you make a reservation.

    Good luck!
