Welcome aboard, Monet! I always love hearing from fellow Ohioans who are getting ready to head out on the high seas for a magical vacation with Disney Cruise Line! You're in for an amazing vacation!
Adults and children can use valid U.S. Passports as identification when checking in at the port to board the ship. If you are sailing on a closed loop cruise from a U.S. port, and ending back in a U.S. port, like the sailings that depart from and return to Port Canaveral, for example, there are some alternatives to passports. Adults can travel using the original or copy of their state-issued birth certificate, along with their valid government issued I.D., like a driver's license. Children traveling with their parents only need the original or copy of their state-issued birth certificate. Now, if you have children traveling with you that are not your own, they will need to have their parents first sign the
Minor Travel Authorization form as well.
If at all possible, I recommend getting everyone in your family passports before your cruise. My family and I always travel with our passports, even since the kids were tiny, as it provides so much more security when we're traveling out of the country on the ship. Should we find ourselves in the unlikely event of an emergency or health problem in a foreign port of call, we can more easily travel home. So, keep that in mind as you decide what identification to use for your sailing, Monet. Please check out all of the details for
Passports and Travel Documents on Disney Cruise Line's website so that you are sure your family has exactly what you need for your particular situation and itinerary.
Have fun planning, and please stop back again if we can help with any other fun plans for your cruise! We're happy to help!
