Welcome to planDisney, Thu! I'm so glad to be able to answer a question for a fellow Texan today. Since your trip to Walt Disney World Resort begins tomorrow, let's jump right in and chat about what data security measures are in place when you enter the Theme Parks.
Thu, I work with sensitive data in my professional life every day so I understand how important it is to protect your personal information. Thankfully, so does Disney, and you can check out the
full Privacy Policy and some
frequently asked questions about how your privacy is considered while you're on vacation.
With that said, I want to be sure to let you know that Disney does not store your fingerprint data when you use it in conjunction with your ticket to enter a Theme Park. An image of your fingerprint is converted to a unique numerical key to ensure that Guests are using the correct tickets assigned to them, and then the image of your fingerprint is immediately deleted. After that first scan, only the identifying number is used to connect you with your ticket. If you decide that you do not want to use your fingerprint to enter the Theme Parks, you can visit
Guest Relations each day before you enter for support in bypassing the fingerprint process with a valid photo ID. If you decide that you eventually do want to use your fingerprint to enter the Theme Parks, another visit to Guest Relations will help you sort that out.
I hope this answers your question, Thu, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation!
