First time Disney Cruisers here, going May 2013 on Magic. My folks have surprised us by saying they're going too! We've focused on port adventures, but nothing for onboard. What do you recommend for all, daughter will be 10 & only child in our group of

    Hi Carmen!
I love spreading my pixie dust on your first Disney Cruise Line voyage! Having your parents join you on your the sailing will make it even more magical! My kiddos sailed with their grandparents on our first cruise and the memories we created are priceless!
It won't take long for your crew to realize that DCL is the perfect fleet for all types of families! The Cruise Staff does an amazing job of planning fabulous activities that appeal to everyone! The first one that you can enjoy with your family is the Sailaway Celebration on the first afternoon! This high-energy party is a great way to kick-off your vacation! Next, the Broadway style entertainment is going to blow you away and this is another daily event that is perfect for all generations! In my opinion, DCL has the most talented performers on the high seas! Studio Sea hosts lots of interactive fun including dance parties, karaoke, and games shows! My princess who is also 10 loves to participate in these type of activities when we sail. If you would like splashtacular fun, then spending time on Deck 9 might be a good idea. The Goofy pool is a great place for a family swim. Other outdoor fun includes Ping-Pong and shuffleboard. Family time is also offered in the Oceaneer Club and Lab. During this scheduled time, families are able to play and explore the youth spaces together. Movies in the Buena Vista Theatre are another great option as well as the many character meet & greets offered on Disney Cruise Line! Your daily newsletter, The Personal Navigator, will list everything you need to know about the offerings available on your sailing. It is delivered to your stateroom nightly and it will keep you up-to-date on all the ship's happenings! You might want to bring along a highlighter so you can mark the must do events for your family.
I hope my suggestions help! Please keep me posted on any other cruise questions!
