First time cruisers on the Disney Wonder Western Caribbean. The fish extender thing looks fun, but we're on a budget. How much does it cost approximately and would fellow cruisers be disappointed by bubbles, candy or something small?

Welcome aboard, Njeri! Your family must be very excited to be setting sail on your very first cruise with Disney Cruise Line! The Wonder has so many activities and events to offer each day for all ages, you are really in for some fun onboard!

The Fish Extenders are not sponsored by Disney Cruise Line, but are instead simply groups of guests who meet up online before sailing and pre-arrange a "secret-Santa" like exchange with each other. Each Fish Extender group is different since each group tends to make their own rules for their sailing's exchange. That being said, it is really fun to virtually meet other cruisers that will be on your sailing and get to know each other a bit before you head off on the high seas. My family really enjoys participating in the Fish Extender exchanges, because the kids love to come back to the stateroom, peek in their hanging pockets and find even more magic waiting.

In my experience with the Fish Extender groups, it was up to each family as to what types of gifts they'd provide. We got everything from handcrafted picture frames and personalized shirts to more simple things like candy from that family's hometown, stickers for the kids, or dollar store Disney items. It's certainly not about giving the most expensive gifts, but just the thought and for the kids, just the idea of something - anything - waiting for them each time they arrive back to the stateroom. So, stick within your own budget, Njeri, and don't worry about what the others are giving. Take a look at how many staterooms are participating, decide what you can spend and split it up like that.

Bubbles are not allowed on the ship, however, as they cause the deck to become slippery, so Disney Cruise Line asks that bubbles not be brought onboard.

I hope that helps as you continue to plan for your Wonder cruise, Njeri. Please don't hesitate to stop back here with further questions. I'm happy to help!
