I am a first time cruiser I have few ?'s with the deposit almost 500$ why is it that high? and if you go on a shore excursion can you get back on the boat when thru or do you have to wait a while?

Welcome back again, Sheri! Thanks for stopping by with more questions about your cruise plans!

Deposits vary based on the cost of the cruise and are normally a certain percentage of the cruise fare, so they really can vary based on itinerary, stateroom, and time of year since the rates of the sailings vary.Though they can vary, the regular deposit is ususally 20% of the cruise fare. Now, for guests who book their next cruise with Disney while onboard the ship, they can qualify for a special lower deposit, discount on the fare, and possible onboard credits for their next cruise, so if you think you may book a second cruise, you may want to consider doing it while onboard the ship!

Now, as for disembarking in the various ports of call, it's really easy! Simply head down to Deck 1 where you'll show your Key To The World Card as you disembark for the day. If you've booked a Port Adventure with Disney, you'll meet onboard the ship at a specific location and time to join your group who will then all walk off together. But, if you are just heading out on your own, you can make your way down anytime after the all clear has been called. You'll want to have a photo I.D. along with your Key To The World Card to get back on the ship later.

Once your Port Adventure is over, you are free to continue exploring the port on your own, or head right back onto the ship. It's up to you. The ship will be open for guests to come and go all day, so just check the all ashore and all aboard times listed in your Personal Navigator the day before to be sure of exact times. Sometimes it's nice to get back on the ship early and enjoy relaxing by the pool with less crowds. That's always been a great time to try out the slides that tend to have longer lines when everyone is onboard.

I hope that helps as you continue planning, Sheri! Feel free to stop back again with other questions!
