Welcome back, Brenda!
During your online check-in, which begins 75 days prior to sailing for first time Disney cruisers (90 or more days prior for those who have sailed with Disney before), you'll get to fill out your cruise paperwork and begin choosing any extras for your family. This includes Port Adventures, a few
specialty Character Greetings, Spa Treatments, Adult Exclusive Dining, and Beverage Seminars.
You didn't mention if your five year-old is a daughter or son, but if you've got a princess, you won't want to miss the Princess Gathering or the Frozen Meet and Greet. Both are free but do require advanced reservations, and fill up quickly, so be sure to log in at that 75-day mark to sign up. My daughter used to adore the Princess Gathering when she was little. We still love watching the little ones lining up to greet the Disney royalty during this event! We just enjoyed the Frozen Meet and Greet last month. It was fabulous to meet Anna, Elsa, and Olaf! Don't worry if you can't get a spot for these greetings, as other Disney friends are out all day and night to meet guests, no reservations necessary!
You mentioned in your last question that you'd like to have an adults dinner, so I highly recommend Palo or Remy.
Palo is by far my favorite spot on all four ships! My husband and I also enjoy the beverage tasting seminars like the chocolate and liquor tasting or the wine tasting, so don't miss checking that out during online check-in too. Other than those that require reservations, you'll be able to attend plenty of activities by checking your Personal Navigator each day to see what is planned and just showing up! I especially like the Art of the Theme Show tour which gives you insider info on the ship's imagineering and design. Have such fun!
