This is going to be our first family vacation. i wanted to know what would be a good amount of money to bring. we will be bringing snacks and water for the kids while at the park. I did not get the meal plan because i heard u had to be on time.

Hi, Crystal!  Actually, there are different kinds of meal plans, and with the quick service plan, you don't have to worry about making any dining reservations - you just step into the counter service locations whenever it fits into your schedule.  And actually, you don't have to make reservations on any of the dining plans, but it does help to make sure you get the experiences you want if you have a reservation.  You can walk up to any restaurant and see if they have tables available at any time.

As for how much spending money, that's a tough question.  Do you know if you want to do table service meals or quick service dining only?  Do you plan on doing some souvenir shopping?

My best advice is to check out a website like allears.net, and click on the dining tab.  It will take you to a list of all of the restaurants and snack stands all over Walt Disney World, and you can get a feel for about how much a meal will cost for your family.  The prices there are fairly accurate, although menus and prices are subject to change.  It will help you budget, though, so it's worth a look.

As for souvenirs, I always allow my girls about $30 for the trip.  That usually buys them a nice t-shirt and something else small that I don't have to worry about them taking on a plane on the way home.

You might also want to budget a little extra per person per day for something like a Mickey Ice Cream Bar or a DoleWhip.  Those are things you won't find other places, and it's a nice treat!

I hope this helps some with your planning!  You're welcome to write back and let me know how you want to dine and ages of the kids you're traveling with.  That will help me come up with a better budget for you!
