We are going on our first family vacation! The Disney cruise out of Galveston 14 dec. when I booked our cabins , I hadn't choice of dining times and was given second seating. That's going to be wayyy too late for our munchkins. Any way to change it?

Welcome aboard, Nicole! I'm so happy to hear that you're about to set off on your first family vacation! A cruise with Disney is such a magical, memorable experience for every age, I'm just sure you're going to have one amazing cruise!

If the Main Dining wasn't an option when you made your reservation, it might have been that there were no more spots for that earlier dining time. However, many guests change their dining times before setting sail, so give Disney Cruise Line a call at 800-951-3532 (or your travel agent) and ask if there have been any openings in Main Dining so you can switch. You might consider checking this every week or so if you can't switch right away, as many guests switch at the last minute. Even onboard, you can ask as you first arrive.

However, let me reassure you that even if you do have the second seating, Disney Cruise Line has created a great way to allow younger kids to enjoy that later dining time. During the second seating only, children are served their meals first, and about 45 minutes into the seating, counselors from the Youth Clubs arrive at the doors to the main dining restaurants to pick up kids who would like to go play in the clubs, leaving the parents to finish their meals at their own pace. This is called Dine n' Play and it's a great option when your little one is tired and can't sit through a late long meal. Off they go to the clubs and they're as happy as can be! Plus, you get a bit of extra adult time to catch up with your husband, so it's a win-win for everyone!

I also like that our kiddos can have a late afternoon nap and not have to rush off to a 5:45 dinner time. They can sleep until it's time to see the Broadway style show just after 6:00 p.m., and they're refreshed for that later dinner.

I hope that eases some of your fears about the later dining seating, Nicole! Please let me know if I can help with anything else before you set sail!
