This is our first Disney Trip, October 3rd thru the 9th. We got the Dining plus option, and wondering if we should make reservations, and if so, how soon in advance? Also, what can we expect from this meal plan, any recommendations? Thanks so much.

Hey Mark and congrats on your very first WDW trip - there is nothing like it.  First off you definitely want to get those reservations (ADRs) made.  You are able to begin booking these 90 days before the first day your reservation begins.  If I'm calculating correctly, you may already be 90 days out.  To make your ADRs, you would want to call 407-WDW-DINE and the CM can guide you through the entire reservation process.
It does help to have an idea of what days you will be in which park so you don't plan a day at MK but a ressies in DHS.  Also, to answer your question, I personally love the dining plan.  I think you will find that you actually save money with it and it helps with the trip budgeting knowing most of your meals are already paid for before you even arrive.
I hope this helps you get the ball rolling for your ADRs and if you have any further questions, please come back anytime to the WDW Mom's Panel.  Have a magical trip in October.
