FIrst Disney trip coming up 6/24/13-7/2/13 with kids 8&9, staying at POR. Our flight gets in at 11:00 am and I have ADR's for Chef Mickey that night at 6:15. Any advice on what to do that first afternoon until dinner? And the best way to get to CM?

Congratulations on your first Walt Disney World vacation, Julie!  My husband and I stayed at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort in January and loved the beautiful landscaping and relaxing atmosphere! When my family arrives midday with a table-service meal planned for our first evening, we enjoy spending our first day at our resort pool and getting familiarized with our Disney Resort. I would suggest a quick-service lunch at Riverside Mill Food Court followed by pool time at Ol’ Man Island. Your children may also enjoy catch and release fishing with an old fashioned cane pole at your resort.

Chef Mickey's is an excellent choice for your first evening in the "Happiest Place on Earth"!  The best route of travel from Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort to Chef Mickey's located in Disney's Contemporary Resort is to take a bus bound for Magic Kingdom Park and then hop on the monorail at Magic Kingdom Park. Disney's Contemporary Resort will be the first stop on the monorail line after leaving Magic Kingdom Park. I would estimate the travel time to take approximately 45 minutes to one hour. I hope this information helps! Please don't hesitate to write me back with any additional questions. I would love to assist you in planning a magical first trip, Julie!
