Welcome aboard, Emily! Congratulations on your very first sailing with Disney Cruise Line!
I've experienced the
Stingray City Adventure twice, and had great experiences both times! My son was just five when he got to experience it for the first time and he loved it. Now, a few things to know about it. You will be in water that may be deeper than the kids can touch at certain points. No problem for us both times, as the kids had life vests on that were provided and they hung on to us. The first time we experienced this, my daughter was not a fan because there were so many stingrays all over and they were literally flapping themselves all over us. She was a little unnerved by that and ended up back on the boat for the rest of the time, but really loved the boat ride and watching the stingrays from up above. The second time, there were not nearly that immense an amount of stingrays, but just enough swimming around that the guides could entice one at a time over to small groups of us to interact with. My son really enjoyed this, though the first time that huge creature swam up to him, he was a bit nervous. After seeing how gentle it was, he relaxed and loved the rest of our adventure with them. So, since you know your kids best, consider if they will be okay with such large creatures swimming up to them and around them. I wouldn't hesitate taking my kids back again now!
If you're looking for a little bit more low key of a stingray adventure,
Castaway Ray's Stingray Adventure at Castaway Cay is wonderful and is done in very shallow water, with the stingrays swimming through a path with the guides for guests to pet them from above.
Have such fun planning and let us know if you have more questions, Emily!
