Three Generations Aboard Ship; fireworks; night

    We are going on our first Disney Cruise on the Fantasy March 30th. We would like to go to Tiki Beach on Grand Cayman, its full. I was only able to reserve for 4 of us and we have 5 in our family. Is there a close beach we could walk to or take a taxi to?

    Welcome aboard, Kathi! It sounds like the Family Beach Day at Tiki Beach is a popular Port Adventure on your particular sailing! I'm sorry to hear you were not able to book your entire family on it. If you choose to keep this adventure booked, you could keep checking back with Disney Cruise Line up until three days before you set sail, as many times you might find that another guest has cancelled and you can grab one more spot.

    If not, you can easily get to Surfside Beach (on Seven Mile Beach) on your own by bus. I chatted with some guests last month on the Disney Magic who had done just this and had a fabulous time. There are buses just outside the port area that will take you there. The cost is about $5 per person each way (bargain!). When you're done in the sun, there are many buses waiting near the beach area so it is easy to head back to the port when you are ready.

    At Surfside Beach, umbrellas are available for about $4 each, chairs for $5, $10 for snorkeling equipment, $15 for kayak-type boats and $100 for jet ski rentals. There are numerous bars and restaurants in the area as well. Besides the beautiful beach, the guests I spoke with were most impressed by the jetpack rental that was available there. People strapped on jetpacks and rocketed up into the air over the water! I looked it up after these guests told me all about it, and found that this unique experience is run by a company called Jet Pack Cayman. Do a google search for it and see what I mean. I'm highly intrigued and I think I might be trying this out next time I'm there. If nothing else, you'll have a good view of the daredevils who do try this, as you sip a fruity drink and relax at Surfside Beach, Kathi.
