We're going on our first Disney Cruise. Can you explore Nassau on your own or do you have to book an excursion? We have 2 girls, age 10 & 6 so I don't think they'd be interested in anything about the "history" of the island.

    Ahoy, Patricia!

Port Adventures are a wonderful way to experience the ports of call you visit on your sailing, but they are completely optional and you can venture out on your own. Many times we stay onboard to explore the ship a bit more and enjoy all the activities offered. Even though the ship is docked there is still plenty to do! The youth spaces will be open for secured programming, first-run movies will be playing and the pool deck will be hopping! The Personal Navigator, the daily cruise newsletter and the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app will be chock full of fun all cruise long. Your Personal Navigator will be delivered to your stateroom each evening while the app is free for download for Apple and Android devices and can be used while your phone is in airplane mode.

If you decide to reserve a Port Adventure in Nassau, the Blue Lagoon Island Beach Day, the Blue Lagoon Island Dolphin Encounter or Blue Lagoon Island Dolphin Swim are all worth checking out. If your girls aren't quite sure about swimming with the dolphins, the encounter is a great option if they want to interact with these incredible mammals in an up-close and personal way. The beach day is very relaxing and does allow you an opportunity to see the dolphins and sea lions in their natural habitat during your visit.

Patricia, thank you for continuing to use the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Good luck with your plans.

    Have a magical day!
