Our first Disney cruise is coming up in three weeks aboard Fantasy. Do any of the Disney ships provide a tour of some sort of the galley or engine room? I have a 15-year-old son who is curious about how the engines work. Thanks!

    Welcome aboard, Sharron!

It's almost time to set sail on the beautiful Disney Fantasy for a week of magical moments! I can't wait for your family to experience it all!

I'm sorry to say that there are currently no guest tours for the engines. However at times, on the stateroom televisions, they will show a video tour of the inner-workings of the ship, engine rooms, and some other cool behind-the-scenes areas. Ask at Guest Services as to when this might be shown. I've also seen it shown on the FunnelVision screen above Donald's Pool up on deck too, but it varies by sailing. Your son might also ask Cast Members throughout your cruise about the ship's engines and how they work. They could point him to the right Cast Members to answer his questions. Disney's Cast Members are so fabulous with guests and they love to teach, so I bet he could still find out quite a bit and have an educational experience just by asking!

One tour that I would highly recommend is the Art of the Theme Show Tour. While it doesn't go to the engine rooms, it is truly a unique look inside how the ship was designed and the theming throughout. I go each time we sail, and since it's always a different Cast Member leading the tour, there are always new interesting bits of information that I learn! Typically on the Disney Fantasy, you'll see this listed in the activities on your Disney Cruise Line Navigator App for the second day onboard, while at sea, and it's for adults only. You may ask about bringing your 15 year-old once you're onboard, you never know, it's worth asking! But, there's also a Walking Ship Tour for all ages that he might find interesting too!

Have fun on this adventure, Sharron!
