We are going on our first Disney Cruise to the Bahamas. We were thinking of doing an excursion while in Nassau, but now are thinking of just staying on the ship. Any thoughts? Will we be missing out on anything or enjoying the ship more?

    Hi Michelle,

Hooray for your first Disney Cruise! My family has gone twice on the cruise and had a wonderful time on both.

When we were in the Bahamas, we chose to tour Nassau on our own. We did shopping in town including the famous Straw Market. We also toured the pirate museum. I know families have toured Atlantis which is located nearby via a short taxi ride. Another family went on the Blue Lagoon Island Beach Day because they were from Texas and wanted to experience the beach.

Personally, my family likes the opportunity to get off the boat and tour the ports. You do not have to spend the whole day off the ship but it is fun to explore the local area. Also, if your children are registered in the kids programs, you can tour the port and have them stay on the ship if they want to while you are seeing the port.

I have included a link to all the ports so you can decide if one of the excursions looks fun. You can book ahead of time or you can wait until you are on the ship to book one provided there is space available.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
    Beth
