We are going on our first Disney Cruise aboard the Fantasy this coming September. We plan to have our 7 and 4 y/o in the youth club and 18 mo in babysitting, while we explore St. Maartin. Is it customary to tip the babysitter and the staff at the youthclub

Welcome aboard, Sharon! This fall holds so much excitement for your family with your first cruise aboard the Disney Fantasy! I'm happy to hear that you're looking into the amazing Port Adventures in St. Maartin. Disney really outdoes themselves by planning some great adventures with special Disney touches.

Disney's Cast Members in the Youth Clubs and Nursery do not expect gratuities, so you should never feel expected or obligated to tip them. However, some guests do bring non-cash treats to show their appreciation to these counselors, so that is always an option. We like to bring international calling cards, boxes of candy or other items like these to give to Cast Members who have really gone above and beyond for us throughout our cruise, so keep that in type of thing in mind before you go.

You will want to plan for gratuities for your server, assistant server, head server and stateroom host. The following traditional tips for these Cast Members are per person (including your children) per night:
    Server: $4
    Assistant Server: $3
    Head Server: $1
    Stateroom Host: $4
So, for your seven-night sailing with a family of five, you can expect to pay about $60/night or $420 for the whole week in gratuities. Many guests choose to pre-pay these by calling Disney Cruise Line ahead of time, while others prefer to wait until they receive their tip envelopes in their stateroom on the last night.

I hope that information helps as you continue to plan, Sharon! Let me know how else I can help before you set sail!
