    we are going on our first DC in May 2013 - my question for you is, if we didnt want to do any port excursions and wanted to hang out on the beach what other activities are there for the kids/adults at st. marteen?

    Ahoy Evelyn!
    I hope you are ready to be dazzled as you cast away on your first cruise adventure in May!  An Eastern Caribbean itinerary is an excellent choice for your crew, and St. Maarten is breathtaking!
    When you disembark the ship in St. Maarten, you will be a short walk away from Great Bay Beach which has a calm surf along with restaurants and shopping.  If you want to venture out further from the wharf, taxis will be waiting to take you to the French side of the island (Marigot) including other beaches such as Orient Beach or the Maho Resort.  From my experience, traffic is heavy on the island so be sure to cushion lots of time for your return.  Also, most of the beaches with the exception of Great Bay Beach do have European style beach attire.  Your best bet might be to stay close by the ship or to take a second look at the Port Adventures offered for this island!  Letting Disney Cruise Line take care of all the details allows you to enjoy the day ashore stress-free!
