Hi, We are going on our first cruise on November 2nd (family stateroom with balcony on Disney Dream). Of course all the cabanas at Castaway Cay are sold out but is there a waiting list for one?

    Welcome Aboard, Vanessa!

I am so glad you navigated your way to the Disney Parks Moms Panel to ask your questions about your very first Disney Cruise Line vacation! I wish I had known more before I set sail for the first time!

I know it is easy to get wrapped up in all of the things that you think will make your cruise perfect, one of them being the elusive Castaway Cay cabanas. I have cruised 13 times with Disney Cruise Line, and only on my most recent cruise did I have a cabana. Was it nice? Yes. Was it necessary? Nope. Would I do it again? Maybe, but I could live a full life without doing it again. In the future, I will probably use that money to go Parasailing at Castaway Cay again. It is spectacular!

There are plenty of beach chairs on Castaway Cay, with many of them underneath umbrellas. You should have no trouble finding a little slice of paradise to claim as your own for the day. The further you walk down the beach, the better chair you will find, so don't just grab the first ones you see.

If you decide that you absolutely, positively need to try and book a cabana, you can inquire at Guest Services once you are onboard. They will add you to the waiting list. I would not count on a cabana opening up, but stranger things have happened.

Be sure to order room service at least once, and enjoy it on your verandah. Have a fantastic first cruise aboard the beautiful Disney Dream! And, be sure to visit us again if more questions should come afloat before you set sail.

    Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
