Ahoy Michelle! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am glad that you have cruised by today.
How exciting that you will be taking your very first Disney Cruise in a short week! I am thrilled just thinking of the memories you are about to make, especially when they announce your name for the first time when you step onboard. Our countdown is still well over a week (currently at 113 days...almost to double digits)! I love to look forward to our next date with Captain Mickey, but I always look back with a smile on our very first high seas adventure. Be sure to take it all in and enjoy all the magic!
I remember on that first cruise walking by staterooms and seeing these hanging "mailboxes" wondering what I was missing out on! Was I supposed to decorate my door? It turns out these staterooms were participating in what is now know as Fish Extender gift exchanges. This is not a Disney Cruise Line onboard activity but rather a movement of like minded cruising enthusiast that use this exchange as an opportunity to get to know your fellow cruisers from all over the world! Fish Extender groups are typically created by a administrator on the corresponding cruise's Facebook page (this is unofficial and not created by Disney Cruise Line). A quick search of your sailing date on Facebook will likely help you find your group.
The best way I have found to meet other guests is by participating in onboard activities. Use your Personal Navigator newsletter left in your stateroom each day to check for times and locations of family events. Look for onboard activities in the
D Lounge, a family space that hosts games and parties. It is the perfect venue to meet other families like yours!
Enjoy the magic of your first Disney Cruise! Bon voyage! Angie
