We have our first Aulani visit planned, with my son & his family and my brother & his wife. Is there a room location request that would reduce the amount of walking around the resort, as walking may be an issue for one family member?

Aloha, Susan! Welcome back to planDisney and Welcome Home! I'm so glad that you've stopped by with your vacation planning question. Chatting with a fellow Disney Vacation Club Member makes my day!

Wow! In just a few months, you'll be arriving for your very first stay at Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa. Soon, you and your family will be stepping into the gorgeous grand lobby, feeling the tropical breeze and hearing the music of ukuleles play. Ahhh, paradise. How exciting! A fabulous stay at Aulani is at the tippy top of my Disney bucket list, and I am at the very beginning stages of planning my first stay there. So, I've enlisted the help of my fellow panelist, pal and Aulani expert Cindy to get you the best answer. As a Physical Therapist, helping those with mobility issues maximize their quality of life is what I do, and I'm honored to help you maximize your Disney magic today!

My first piece of advice would be to check out the amazing Interactive map of Aulani on the website and familiarize yourself with the location of the dining options, shopping and amenities. Since the different amenities are scattered throughout the Resort, your prime location may depend on your preferences and how you choose to vacation. If you'd like to be close to transportation for excursions, dining, and shopping, request a room close to the lobby. However, since you will surely also want to experience the beach, pools, dining, and everything that this incredible Resort has to offer throughout, I'd suggest making a room request for a room close to an elevator. That way, no matter where your room is located within the Resort, long walks down the hallway to and from your room can be avoided. As a DVC Member, you can easily make your room request by calling DVC Member Services

My next suggestion would be to consider renting an ECV for your stay at Aulani. While Aulani does not rent out ECVs, there are several companies in the area that do, and they will even deliver to the Resort! My pal and planDisney Alumni, Kate, gave a fantastic answer to another Guest about how easy the Resort is to navigate on a scooter. Then, the member of your party with some issues with walking longer distances can enjoy Aulani to its magical fullest!

Susan, I hope that this was helpful, and I hope that you and your 'ohana have THE most magical and unforgettable vacation in paradise. Please stop by any time with any vacation planning or DVC questions!

I hope to see ya real soon,
    Mandy
